A few thoughts on... New music, Purple Anticipation, Porn Unicorns

by Cade

Welcome to my little corner of the interwebs.  This is where I will share some words on everything from music to the neurotic thoughts running through my deranged mind.

Let's start with new tunes you'll hear this week on 103.7 KRRO.

Bust out the acid-washed jeans and slap bracelets.  It kinda feels like the early 90's again as we see new music from both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

PJ's, "Mind Your Manners" comes off their new album, "Lightning Bolt", set for release October 15.  I love that Pearl Jam is back to making up-tempo tunes.  Their slow stuff is good, but they really hit their groove with some action behind Eddie Vedder's voice.  Their latest single reminds me of Pearl Jam's 1994 single, "Animal" with an injection of early punk rock.

Soundgarden hits us with their third release off, "King Animal".  The new song is, "Halfway There".  Solid stuff from a band that took a 12-year vacation from each other.

Avenged Sevenfold drops their new album, "Hail To The King" on August 27.  You'll hear the title track right away on 103.7 the KRRO.  This will be the first release from A7X that won't have any contributions from recently deceased drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.  Listen for new drummer, Arin Ilejay to pick up where Sullivan left off.

It's weird to hear new music from Three Days Grace knowing that frontman, Adam Gontier is no longer with the group.  Nonetheless, the new song, "Misery Loves My Company" will be another big hit from this band.

Vikes Training Camp starts at the end of this week.  As of today, that means there are only 17 days until Minnesota's first pre-season game.  Cue the gjallarhorn!  As excited as I am for football to return taking over my life, I "ponder" as to where the summer has gone.

Finally, I'd like to end with my thought on sexy porn stars wearing unicorn masks to baseball games.  I'm all for it.  Apparently, Pittsburgh isn't as cool with it as I am.
