Metallica will play "One" with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang at this Sunday's Grammy Awards, and the band is hard at work getting ready for it. Guitarist Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone that the performance was going to be insane and dynamic. Metallica first performed on the Grammy Awards in 1989 — the first metal band to do so as the event included an award for "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" for the first time ever. Metallica performed "One" on the show and was largely favored to win — before losing to Jethro Tull in one of the most embarrassing and widely ridiculed upsets in Grammy history. The Grammys air this Sunday 7:00 PM on CBS.
Meanwhile Kirk Hammett also told Rolling Stone the band will begin working on their upcoming album in the next few weeks. And while the band has been procrastinating getting the album started but it is now their main priority. Hammett added the band has no more excuses to delay the album and they have a lot of ideas to work with. No timetable has been set for the album to come out.
