New Music This Week on KRRO

by Cade

This time of year is typically slow for new rock releases.  Summer seems to birth the new up and coming baby bands and winter is when the heavy hitters of rock drop their new stuff.  It's eerily quiet on the rock front in between those two seasons.

But, fear not!  We scour the ends of the earth to bring you the best rock on the planet.

This week features new releases from Sammy Hagar and Korn.

Let's start with Sammy.  He's back with his first new album since 2006.  Sammy Hagar and Friends, set to drop September 24th is loaded with a talented roster of folk teaming with the Red Rocker on a mix of cover tunes and a few originals.  Guests include, former Van Halen band-mate Michael Anthony, Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and a bunch more.  The song we added on KRRO is a duet with, Kid Rock.  "Knockdown Dragout" is a fun, up-tempo party tune.  You'll hear it plenty during the football season this year, as Sammy has sold the rights to the NFL.

Korn's new album, The Paradigm Shift, hits store shelves October 8th.  This album also features the return of guitarist, Brian "Head" Welch, who's back with the band after an 8-year absence.  The first single, "Never Never" is not what you have come to expect from Korn.  Then again, they've been throwing quite a few curve balls with their music lately.  This song has a very techno-rock sound to it.  Speaking to Metal Hammer magazine, front man Jonathan Davis said that, "It's not for the dudes.  Never Never is for the ladies."  Judge for yourself here:
