Science has a weird sense of humor. Turns out smelling farts might help ward of a bunch of nasty stuff, like cancer, dementia and diabetes, according to some new research .Hydrogen sulfide, the toxic element produced by rotting eggs or gas helps the body in small doses. Specifically preserving mitochondria, which is vital to cell life.

So next time you need to let one rip in public, explain to everyone that you just saved their lives.
