Jimmy Eat World to Release “Adult Breakup Record” in June

Jimmy Eat World has revealed that they’ll be dropping their seventh studio album, Damage , on June 11.  Frontman Jim Adkins says that the upcoming release has a central theme which revolves around relationship issues.

"I would describe [ Damage ] as an attempt at making an adult breakup record,” Adkins tells Rolling Stone .  “I'm 37 and the world around me is a lot different than when I was writing breakup songs in my 20s.  I tried to reflect that in what the lyrics are."

Adkins adds that the album has a “raw and warm” feel to it because they recorded the album in various parts of producer/ Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes ’ house in Los Angeles. "There were instruments in his bedroom and drums in his living room,” he explains.  “There was less an emphasis on it being clean and perfect.  There's a lot of stuff that's more about the performance than it sounding pristine.  And I think it feels better for what the songs are."

You’ll get your first chance to check out music from Damage on April 20, when the title track will be released on a seven-inch vinyl single as part of the Record Store Day initiative.  In addition, the record includes a cover of Radiohead ’s "Stop Whispering" from their 1993 debut album, Pablo Honey .
