SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police responded to a thousand calls Tuesday, four times an average day.
Chief Doug Barthel says the police force has doubled the number of officers on the streets and says they are keeping up with the pace.
Barthel does ask that if you have a minor event or a small crime that's not in progress, please wait to call the police administration line for couple of days. He say police responed to a number of downed power lines and in a lot of those cases if the line is not sparking or arching, an officer will put up a barricade or police tape.
He says just like Sioux Falls Fire-Rescue, police are prioritizing their calls.
Barthel says when you come to a traffice light that's out, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
