SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls residents who need help bringing downed branches to their boulevards can call 211 for assistance.
Director of Public Works Mark Cotter says the service is for the elderly or others lacking the resources to move branches.
Cotter says 211 has been a catch-all agency during the storm and recovery efforts. He says if you have any questions call the HELPline and ask to be put on a list for help in moving trees. You can also go to the City's website and log onto Operation Timber Strike and a Facebook page has also been created.
Cotter says volunteers' efforts will focus on residential properties and homeowners will need to complete a hold-harmless waiver to participate.
Fire/Rescue Chief Jim Sideras says if you want to volunteer, also call 211.
He says volunteers will not cut trees. But if you need someone to cut branches call 211. He says it wont be immediate assistance but they will start coordinating those efforts next week.
