SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The MInnehaha County Commission today unanimously upheld the Planning Commission's approval of a $10 million agronomy plant about three miles north of Colton. The Eastern Farmer's Coop plans building a state-of-the-art fertilizer facility at the site. Louise Hanson and her husband Doug live just north of the proposed plant and are among the neighbors who appealed the Planning Commission's decision. Hanson says she's not against farming but is against the fertilizer and pesticide plant's driveway located right across the street from their private driveway. Eastern Farmer Coop plans tearing down similar plants at Baltic and Crooks. The Colton facility will employ up to 15 workers.
