SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN) – Augustana remains third in the second edition of regional men's basketball rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
Augustana is in the Central Region, which consists of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The top eight teams in the final rankings will earn a spot in the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
Augustana is 19-7 on the season and ended the regular season at 15-7 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play which was good for a third place finish.
Augustana is one of five NSIC schools in this week's rankings. Minnesota State and Winona State swapped places from the first edition of the rankings, with the Mavericks taking over the No. 1 spot. St. Cloud State dropped from fourth to seventh this week while Southwest Minnesota State went down one spot to 10th this week.
The MIAA boasts four schools in this week's rankings with No. 4 Central Missouri, No. 5 Washburn, No. 8 Northeastern State and No. 9 Fort Hays State while Harding represents the GAC at No. 6.
Augustana hosts Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament tonight at 8 p.m.
