VERMILLION, S.D. (KWSN)– For the third straight year, the South Dakota men’s golf team has earned the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which is given to teams in the top-10 percent of the NCAA’s most recent multiyear Academic Progress Report (APR). This year’s award was based on figures from the 2011-12 academic year.
The APR looks at each team’s academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete scholarship. It takes into account eligibility, retention and graduation, and measures each team’s academic performance.
Based on a 1,000 point scale, men’s golf had the highest rating with a mark of 1,000. Overall, 12 of USD’s 17 programs scored more than 975.
Since the Division I transition, USD teams have earned seven Public Recognition Awards.
