SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today voted to continue the current petition gatherers' policy.
A committee recommended keeping the policy as is, allowing petitioners to come inside the door of the County Administration building and two plans to build shelters when weather is severe.
Commission Department Head Ken McFarland says the current policy accommodates all. He says the issues of expanding the doorways are absolutely worthy of discussion. But, he says the current policy meets the needs of petition gatherers and the county's need to have unfettered access into the building.
Current county policy allows one petition gatherer to stand in the breezeway in inclement weather.
