Nine Inch Nails has a new bassist. Frontman Trent Reznor has announced that longtime NIN collaborator Robin Finck will take over for former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery , who left the group on Wednesday so he could focus on other projects.
“I am proud to announce that the tour lineup now includes the incredible Robin Finck,” writes Reznor on NIN’s Tumblr blog . “The addition of Robin to the mix of players I’ve assembled makes this band incredibly powerful and versatile. We are deep in the rehearsal process and it feels exciting and great to be back at this. Lots of information, surprises and sweat headed your way.”
NIN’s first concert -- featuring the new lineup of Reznor, Finck, ex- King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew , Alessandro Cortini , and Telefon Tel Aviv ’s Josh Eustis and Ilan Rubin -- will be an appearance at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival on July 26. The group’s first show in North America will be on August 2 at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, IL.
