Washington, D.C. (KELO-AM) South Dakota's Tim Johnson was one of the 52 Democrats who voted Thursday to approve the so-called Nuclear Option. Now just a simple majority is required to approve most presidential nominees, instead of a 60-vote super majority.
All the Republicans voted against the unprecedented change in Senate rules. South Dakota's John Thune says it's an attempt by the Democrats to change the subject away from Obamacare.
A 60-vote majority will still be required for Supreme Court nominees.
