DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (KWSN)—South Dakota freshman Brenna Lervick tied for 31st place at 18-over-par to lead the Coyote women’s golf team at the LPGA Xavier Invitational held Saturday through Monday at LPGA International Golf Course. The 54-hole event included 95 golfers from 18 teams.
South Dakota placed 15th in a field that included North Dakota State (ninth), South Dakota State (12th), Creighton (17th) and North Dakota (18th). Mercer won the team title at 29-over-par. Daytona State and Morehead State tied for second at 37-over-par.
Samford’s Bailey Gray scored a two-stroke victory against Daytona State’s Tiffany Chan in the individual race. Both shot a 3-under 69 Monday. Gray finished the event at 4-under-par.
The Coyotes’ roster included Jordan Rearick (t-54th, +28), Janice Baumberger (t-68th, +33), Alyna Vaughan (85th, +47) and Victoria Grasso (92nd, +67). The team shot a low round of 321 (+33) Sunday, the same day Lervick carded a 3-over-par 75.
