SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today accepted full responsibility for the “debacle” of the Affordable Healthcare website.
Lisa Carlson, with Sanford Health Plan, says some individuals who bought policies after September of 2010 will soon learn their policies don’t meet minimum Obamacare standards.
Carlson says those policy-holders will have to comply with the Healthcare Act. She says with compliance comes new benefits, better benefits. But, Carlson says, there will be some rate shock because the premiums will be higher for many. She says a few will get a reduction, possibly, depending on the plan they choose.
Carlson says everyone has the option to go to the Marketplace and shop and see if they are eligible for subsidies as well.
Carlson says people can submit paper applications for Marketplace coverage at community health centers across South Dakota.
