Kings of Leon ’s Mechanical Bull has made a big splash across the Atlantic. The record debuted at the top of the U.K.'s Official Album Chart this week, with 71,000 copies sold.
Thanks to its successful first-week sales, Mechanical Bull is Kings of Leon’s fourth consecutive studio album to score the top slot on the U.K. chart, following 2007’s Because of the Times , 2008’s Only by the Night and 2010’s Come Around Sundown .
As for the U.S., HITS Daily Double reports Mechanical Bull is expected to score the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart this week, with sales estimated to come in somewhere around 115,000 to 125,000 copies. If the predictions pan out, this will be Kings of Leon’s second album in a row to debut at #2, following Come Around Sundown .
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday.
