Roger Waters is preparing to reissue his last studio album of original rock songs, Amused to Death . The updated version of the ex- Pink Floyd singer-bassist's 1992 concept record, which focused on the dehumanizing effects of mass media and modern technology and advertising, will be released later this year in a number of formats.
Waters has teamed up with longtime Pink Floyd engineer James Guthrie to create new stereo and 5.1 surround-sound mixes for Amused to Death . The reissue packages also will include bonus content and new graphics. Among the many musicians who lent their talents to Amused to Death are Jeff Beck , Don Henley , Rita Coolidge , longtime Pink Floyd backing singer P.P. Arnold , and Toto guitarist Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro .
Guthrie had been scheduled to premiere some of the new Amused to Death mixes over the weekend as part of a recently reported academic conference held at New Jersey's Princeton University.
