GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Ahead of Tuesday's deadline to slim down the Green Bay Packers roster to 75 players, the team has announced seven releases.
Team officials say they have released S Charles Clay, CB Antonio Dennard, WR Chris Harper, LB Korey Jones, FB Ina Liaina, QB Chase Rettig and WR Gerrard Sheppard.
New starting center J.C. Tretter, who missed a majority of his rookie year with an ankle injury, has what's being called a "significant" knee injury and will miss several weeks. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says that Tretter will be replaced in the lineup by rookie Corey Linsley.
All this comes on the heels of the news that defensive tackle B.J. Raji tore his biceps in the preseason game against the Oakland Raiders Friday night will be miss the rest of this season, according to multiple reports.
