Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On 02-14-2014 at 2:33 PM, officers were summoned to the intersection of 57th St. and Southeastern Avenue on a call of an injury accident. When the officers arrived, one of the cars was fully engulfed in flames. The occupants of both vehicles had been moved away from the burning vehicle.
Investigation disclosed that Adam J. Lind, age 23, was driving eastbound on 57th Street at a high rate of speed in a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. He collided with a 2003 Lincoln Town Car that was westbound on 57th Street turning southbound on Southeastern Avenue driven by Donna L. Fodness, age 87. After impact, the Corvette collided with a traffic signal pole and a fence. The Corvette came to rest off the road and began to burn. Lind was removed from the vehicle by witnesses.
Fodness and her passenger, Orval E. Fodness, age 94 were transported by ambulance to Avera-McKennan Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Adam Lind was transported by ambulance to Avera-McKennan Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Criminal charges against Adam Lind are pending as the investigation continues.
