Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) The State Senate Education Committee on Tuesday by a vote of 5-2 approved a Common Core bill that calls for a wider study of the educational program's math and English standards.
Committee Chairman, Deb Soholt (R-Sioux Falls) voted in favor of moving the bill to the full Senate. She says it will give all stakeholders more input. She says a review will help determine if the standards are right and should be expanded or whether South Dakota should look into doing something different.
Supporters of the bill says a study could help settle the battle between supporters and opponents of the controversial education standards. Two other Common Core bills are also making their way through the Legislative process.
