S.D. Democrats react to Friday's Minn. wage hike

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnesota’s minimum wage jumps to $8 tomorrow while an effort to raise South Dakota’s wage is popular across party lines.

Executive Director of the South Dakota Democratic Party, Zach Krago says it’s important to reward hard work.  Krago says when you put money into people's pockets they'll spend it on things that families need everyday.

He says that includes fueling or repairing the car, seeing a doctor for something that's been put off, buying school supplies for kids and making sure there's food on the table.

Krago says 62,000 South Dkota will see an increase in wages if initiated measure 18 passes in November

Initiated measure 18 would raise South Dakota’s minimum wage to $8.50 an hour with annual cost of living increases.  South Dakota's current minimum wage is $7,25, the National minimum wage.
