Business Opportunity at Lewis and Clark Recreation Area near Yankton

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO-AM) – Entrepreneurs interested in operating a marina on Lewis and Clark Lake near Yankton can now begin submitting their proposals according to the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks officials.

"Lewis and Clark Recreation Area is a popular outdoor recreation destination for South Dakotans as well as residents of neighboring states,” said Doug Hofer, state park director.

The prospectus for the operation of Lewis and Clark Marina is available, and details the terms and conditions under which interested operators may submit a proposal for consideration. It also includes a detailed business opportunity, the investment requirements necessary to submit a proposal and a draft concession agreement for a term of ten years.

Required services include a marina, full restaurant service, boat repair and service department, retail goods and boat fuel.

Proposals must be received by 3 p.m. on June 30.

“Lewis and Clark has proven itself as an extremely popular and busy park. Annually, visitation at Lewis and Clark exceeds one million visitors and is second statewide only to Custer State Park,” added Hofer.

A copy of the prospectus is available by contacting the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks, Division of Parks and Recreation at 523 E. Capitol, Pierre, S.D. 57501 or at 605-773-3391.

Printable versions of the prospectus are also available for free download from the Game, Fish and Parks website at http://gfp.sd.gov/state-parks/directory/lewis-and-clark.
