(WNFL)- Ryan Braun was given the day off this afternoon as the Milwaukee Brewers were getting ready to play the Cubs in Chicago. It's a cold, wet day in the Windy City with 42-degrees and a constant light rain coming down as of late morning. Brewers' manager Ron Roenicke said Braun needs a rest, after playing in all three games this week against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Braun was off for two weeks before that, due to a strained oblique muscle. Roenicke said Braun's rib cage was holding up fine -- and he wants to keep it that way. Meanwhile, Brewers' center-fielder Carlos Gomez is expected to return after missing one more game under his current suspension. Gomez said today that his back feels okay. He sat out Wednesday night's game with lower back spasms -- and it was decided at that point that Gomez would simply serve his penalty instead of waiting for a ruling from Major League Baseball on his recent appeal.
