SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Police and the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office discussed Some pretty serious cases at Wednesday’s police briefing.
ERRATIC BURGLAR IN POLICE CUSTODY DIES IN HOSPITAL
A man who was hallucinating, broke into a home, brandished a gun at the resident, then was arrested, died following being handcuffed by Sioux Falls Police.
Police say the man was acting erratically and officers cuffed him for their protection.
After being cuffed, the man collapsed.
Police say officers then fire rescue attempted to revive the man.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident took place in the 100 block of South Dakota Avenue.
The Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.
MOTHER THWARTS WOULD-BE BABY KIDNAPPER
A mother thwarted a man from trying to take her seven-week-old baby early Wednesday morning in Sioux Falls.
Police say the mother was walking in the area of the 1100 block of North Cleveland Avenue with her baby in a carrier.
The man attempted to grab the baby carrier, but the mother pulled away and ran for help at an apartment.
Police soon caught the attempted kidnapper.
He is Mitchell Tyler Rust, 20 from Lennox.
Neither the mother nor the baby boy was hurt.
MINNEHAHA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE LOOKING FOR TWO VIOLENT FELONS
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two felons with outstanding warrants for violent charges.
The first is Marlow Farr, 34.
He’s wanted on a number of aggravated assault and discharge of firearm counts.
The second is a juvenile, Nazim Houston, 16.
He’s wanted on robbery and various assault charges.
