ROSEMONT, Ill. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Canaries saw their losing streak grow to six games with a 3-0 defeat at Chicago on Thursday.
The Dogs struck for two runs in their half of the first inning. Charlie Tilson smacked a lead-off triple and was driven in on a single from Danny Mars. Mars would later come around to score on a Ryan Lidge sacrifice fly.
Sioux Falls’ best offensive threat came in the top of the sixth inning when the first three batters reached base but the Dogs managed to escape unscathed. Chicago would tack on another run in the home half of the sixth with a sacrifice groundout.
Wyatt Ulrich had two of the Birds’ five hits and reached base three times as Sioux Falls drops to 5-14 overall. The Canaries return home Friday night to open a three-game set against the Cleburne Railroaders with first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
