PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The next few weeks will help determine the fate of current and former South Dakota legal officials as the race to be the state’s next attorney general takes shape.
At stake are the jobs and futures of three Republicans with ties to the Attorney General’s Office — former AG Marty Jackley, suspended incumbent Jason Ravnsborg, and DCI director-turned-candidate David Natvig.
Some GOP delegates theorize that despite striking and killing a pedestrian in 2020, and now facing an impeachment trial, that Ravnsborg could find a place back in state government if Natvig were to prevail as the Republican candidate and as attorney general.
That scenario is one part of the intrigue and uncertainty hovering above the ongoing race to be South Dakota’s top legal officer.
In the latest article published by South Dakota News Watch, available here, reporter Stu Whitney provides in-depth analysis on the upcoming convention and shares new background on Natvig.
