SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Yet another train derailed in the Midwest early Tuesday morning, this time in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Union Pacific Railroad told Fox News in a statement that shortly after 1:45 a.m., approximately 31 train cars carrying coal derailed.
They added that there is no indication the crash poses a threat to locals.
This is reportedly the third derailment at this exact spot in the last six months.
According to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), about 1,000 derailments occur every year across the United States.
In 2022, there were 1,044 instances of trains coming off their tracks.
Gothenburg is located in Central Nebraska, approximately 35 miles southeast of North Platte
