BRIDGEWATER, SD (KELO.com) — Down on the Farm this week, crops are reaching a point of no return. We’re following Bridgewater area farmer Jason Hofer through the growing season this year. For the second straight year, he’s dealing with drought conditions. He says this week is critical.
That’s a big change from a week ago, when crops were just beginning to show stress.
With signs of a dying corn crop, Hofer and other South Dakota farmers are hoping and praying for rain this week. He says last year’s drought is still being felt.
Hofer says it would take a good two-inch rain to stabilize the corn crop and get it back on track.
