SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It’s a high profile child homicide case that dates back to 2015 – and it’s still going. Attorney General Marty Jackley says a circuit judge has denied a Habeas Corpus request for Joseph Patterson. Jackley says for the family’s sake, the wheels of justice appear to be moving too slowly.
Patterson was sentenced to life in prison for Second Degree Murder, First Degree Manslaughter and Aggravated Battery of an Infant. Two-year old Tyrese Ruffin, the child of former Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson, died in the incident. Patterson is expected to appeal to the South Dakota Supreme Court.
