A Texas-based chip company called “Save This Life” went under & didn’t make the public or clients awars. So if you had your pet microchip done through them & scanned it, it’s not linked to anything so it does no good!!! The American Animal Hospital Association does keep a central database of all the chip numbers, except for those done by “Save This Life”. Here’s the GOOD news though, your pet’s microchip is fine. You just need to re-register it through another company & some do it for FREE. Others may charge like $20.
To start, you need to check your pets Chip # on file. If you don’t have that, your Vet can scan it to find out. The “Save This Life” Chips ALL start with 1 of these 2 # sequences: 991 or 900164. If you have any questions or more curiosity, go to: https://www.aaha.org/
