SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — John Thin Elk, 43, of Sioux Falls was sentenced to 106 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
According to authorities, an officer with the Yankton Sioux Tribe found him and a female passenger passed out in the vehicle. A search of the car located 50 grams or more of methamphetamine back in 2019.
Thin Elk was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 20, 2020 and pleaded guilty to the charges on Oct. 29.
