SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It wasn’t quite a full moon last night (it was a waxing Gibbous), but police were busy with shooting and robbery calls Tuesday.
The details from Wednesday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
APARTMENT SHOOTING #1
Sioux Falls Police are looking for the suspect in a shooting in an apartment last night (Tuesday) in Sioux Falls.
At 8 p.m., there was an argument between two men at an apartment in the 3400 block of East 11th Street.
The suspect took out a gun and shot the victim, 26, in the leg.
The victim banged on apartment doors, and someone called 9-1-1.
The victim has non-life-threatening injuries.
The police believe they know who the suspect is.
APARTMENT SHOOTING #2
One man is arrested, and another soon will be for a shooting incident in Sioux Falls yesterday (Tuesday) evening.
About 6:50 p.m., Sioux Falls Police were called to an apartment in the 4200 block of East Ronning Drive.
Police say the eventual shooter showed up at the apartment and did cocaine and marijuana with the renter.
The visitor got paranoid from the drugs and fired a gun.
The rounds went through an apartment wall, and one of them hit the renter’s friend.
The renter, Antonio Martinez-Padilla, 29, from Sioux Falls, is charged with drug possession, and the shooter will likely be charged today (Wednesday).
The shooter then went to a trailer home in the 100 block of South Rochelle Place and fired his gun several times inside.
No one was hurt. Police arrested him and then took him to the hospital. The authorities did not release his name.
Officer Sam Clemens says the man will likely be charged Wednesday once he’s released from the hospital.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY WHILE WALKING THE DOG
Sioux Falls Police are searching for a man the victim says threatened him while walking his dog last night (Tuesday).
The victim says the would-be assailant asked him what he had on him.
The victim says the attempted robber then appeared to be reaching for a weapon.
The victim called his dog, and the man ran off.
The incident took place in the 4200 block of East 12th Street.
No one was injured.
THE MAN WHO JUST WON’T LEAVE FINALLY LEFT
Sioux Falls Police are trying to find a man who assaulted then robbed a motel worker yesterday (Tuesday) morning.
The incident happened in the 1500 block of West Russell Street.
The man, who previously had been kicked out of the motel, returned.
The woman told him to leave.
He pushed her down, kicked her, and stole her cell phone.
The woman was not seriously hurt.
