SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — There were repeat ripoffs presented at Friday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
ANOTHER FAKE JEWELRY FOR MONEY RIPOFF
Sioux Falls Police are investigating another jewelry for money ripoff.
It again featured a man, a woman, and two children in a white SUV.
This time the swindlers scammed a woman out of $500.
Again, they said they desperately needed money and offered a ring for cash.
Like the previous incident, the ring was fake.
The victim even went to an ATM to give them more money.
This latest incident took place Thursday afternoon in the 5th and Fairfax area.
The first incident happened on Wednesday.
AND ANOTHER CELL PHONE RIPOFF
Sioux Falls Police are investigating cell phone ripoff.
A woman was selling her cell phone late Thursday night.
She arranged to meet the buyer in the 4700 block of East 6th Street.
Instead of buying the phone, two teens grabbed the phone and ran off.
Sioux Falls Police says a lot of this sort of thing goes on in and around the apartments in the 6th and Cleveland area.
They say it usually involves ripoffs of phones or cash.
They also remind people they can safely buy and sell in the lobby of the law enforcement center or in the parking lot.
