SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls man is in jail on three counts of aggravated assault stemming from a series of attacks Thursday evening.
Police say Herberth Orellanaventura, 23, stabbed the first victim twice near 2nd Street and Duluth Avenue.
That victim has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Then Orellanaventura went down the street and attacked a man in his yard.
The man fended off the assailant with a shovel.
Then the attacker went even further down the street and attacked another person with a knife.
That victim has minor injuries.
Police say the suspect used a folding knife in the attacks.
The authorities say residents in the area were helpful in identifying the suspect and helping police with Orellanaventura’s whereabouts.
