ABERDEEN, SD (KELO.com) — Another call for state officials to change South Dakota’s eminent domain laws related to Carbon Capture pipelines. A moratorium on the pipelines in Brown County turned a year old today – and expired. The Brown County Commission failed to extend the moratorium. Instead, it passed a resolution offered by Commissioner Drew Dennert calling on the governor and legislature to change eminent domain laws given to pipeline companies.
The Public Utilities Commission will begin hearings on the proposed Navigator pipeline next week. The hearings for Summit Carbon Solutions’ pipeline will be held in September.
