PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — An effort to batten down the hatches on presumptive probation has failed in a state House committee. A bill was brought at the request of Attorney General Marty Jackley that would have expanded the list of charges ineligible for presumptive probation. Supporters of the measure testified of a recent case in which a person who threatened the Governor and two judges received probation. The committee killed the bill on a 9-3 vote.
