DAVISON COUNTY, SD (KELO.com) — An emotional time as a Davison County family recognized a father and son who saved their lives in a trailer fire in April. David and Alyssa Sweet say they wouldn’t be here without the actions of former jail sergeant Shawn Jerke and his son, Deputy Trestin Jerke. In a surprise ceremony, the father/son duo was recognized for rushing into the burning trailer, waking the couple and helping them escape.
