South Dakota lawmakers are gearing up for a special legislative session later this month. They’ll debate a proposal to build a new men’s penitentiary in northeast Sioux Falls at an estimated cost of 650-thousand dollars. Governor Larry Rhoden says the Prison Task Force accomplished a lot on the project over the summer months. Lawmakers will decide the fate of the proposed prison during a special legislative session that begins September 23rd.
