The Minnehaha County Commission has approved the 2026 budget. Commissioners approved over 132-million dollars in spending without needing use any opt outs for additional tax levies on property owners. Finance and Budget Officer Susan Beamon told commissioners there was one primary area of growth in spending. That area of spending growth is public safety and the court system. Beamon says they are the biggest expense now and those prices are just going to go higher.
