Attorney General Marty Jackley
PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 18 states are backing his appeal regarding an abortion pill distribution law.
Jackley made the announcement Thursday, saying the states filed a brief backing South Dakota’s ability to enforce the law which bans the distribution of the pill.
A federal court ruling blocked the state’s enforcement ability in July, but Jackley has challenged the decision to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
A trial is expected to take place in 2027.
North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska are among the states supporting South Dakota in the case.
