SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – Construction at the McKennan Park wading pool and bathhouse is complete but landscaping is still taking place.
The wading pool is closed for the season, allowing construction crews to start installing an irrigation system before reseeding grass next spring.
The original pool and bathhouse that are now renovated had stood for roughly 50 years and officials say the irrigation system is similar in age.
The new irrigation system will cost about half-a-million dollars and donors Pierce and Barbara McDowell are covering the costs.
While the new system is needed for spring reseeding, officials hope the project will be done by the end of winter.
